James Argent has made no secret of his struggle with his weight in the past, admitting he is now embarking on a healthier lifestyle to get back in shape.
Over the years, the reality star’s weight has yo-yoed dramatically, losing an impressive four stone in 2015, before putting it back on, and losing it again in 2017.
The The Only Way Is Essex star has also experimented with diets and fitness boot camps since joining the show in 2010, both on-screen and behind the scenes.
Now, the reality star has admitted he’s the “biggest” he’s ever been and is “desperate” to get back on track.
Arg looked healthy at the start of his TV career, with his weight appearing to stay at a steady level.
In 2012, James’ weight started to creep on following nights of partying after becoming famous on the reality show.
After his first split from Lydia, this is when his on-off romance with Gemma Collins first started.
In April, James got fit and healthy after taking part in the London marathon, completing the course in an impressive time of 06:01:01 – proving the haters wrong.
In 2015, the reality favourite lost an impressive four stone after checking into rehab following a short suspension from the reality show.
Speaking to Now! magazine about his transformation at the time, he explained: “I went to rehab for my low self-esteem issues and being in recovery meant I had to change my whole lifestyle.”
“It wasn’t just learning about my problems – it was learning to love myself. Now I know if you eat rubbish, you feel like rubbish. It’s a vicious circle and it brings you down.”
After sharing impressive before and after pictures on social media, Mark Wright‘s best pal admitted: “OMG at the time I just didn’t realise how big I actually was! This gives me the motivation to keep going!”
Following the weight loss, he managed to maintain his physique for a short period of time with the help of a strict diet, working out five times a week and cutting out booze.
In 2016, Arg revealed he was “gutted” after gaining weight again.
Sharing a photo in the gym, he revealed: “Training camp starts today! Gutted at how unfit I am but I’ll get there & maintain it this time!”
And during a 10-week stint at No1 Boot Camp’s weight loss retreats in Norfolk and Ibiza towards the end of the year, his weight went from 19st 1lb to 16st, as well as losing eight inches from his waist.
The website details: “Our answer is that, all our UK Boot Camps are essentially about training hard, eating well and having fun with new people.
“But they are also about learning new fitness and nutrition habits that will transform your life – Overcome physical or mental challenges and push yourself way beyond your limitations!”

James checked himself into a rehab facility in Thailand in 2017, and lost a further stone in weight.
Talking to new! magazine at the time, his friend Jack Tweed revealed: “He said he’s been doing loads of stuff like Muay Thai boxing, jungle trekking, abseiling down waterfalls and zip lining.
“He’s been eating really healthy food and he’s lost over a stone. Arg is in a really good place at the moment and I hope he keeps it up, for his sake and his family’s sake.”
In 2018, James’ weight crept back on and he checked himself back into rehab.
A spokesperson for the ITVBe show confirmed at the time: “James is taking a break from TOWIE to give himself the space and time to concentrate on his well-being.
“We remain in contact and very much support the positive steps he is taking.”
The TOWIE favourite has now embarked on a new health and fitness regime after revealing it’s the “biggest” he’s ever been.
And Arg recently opened up on his desire to lose weight, telling The Sun: “In regards to my body – I need to work on that. I need to get back in the gym and boxing again.
“I’m desperate to get back on track. I need to work on my fitness that is my number one New Year’s resolution – but I find it so difficult.
“I struggle to get into a routine and structure with my job I’m here, there and everywhere.”
